Having grown up in the New York area, sick of hearing about the Yankees, Giants and Dodgers back in the day, my Dad became a St. Louis Cardinals fan in 1942 and never looked back. Stan Musial was his hero. While he’d seen the Cards play vs. the New York teams at the Polo Grounds, Ebbets Field and Shea Stadium, he had never been to St. Louis. On June 26, he finally set foot in Busch Stadium. Too bad the Cards lost to the Blue Jays, 5-0.
