Wedding Road Trip Round Trip: San Francisco to Spokane, August 1-5, 2013
Call me crazy, but just two weeks after driving from my parents’ home in Connecticut to mine in San Francisco, I was on the road again.
Two good friends of ours, Jared and Fabrice, were getting married in the great state of Washington. And while we tried to get affordable airfare, everything about flying was putting us off: the lack of direct flights to Spokane, the re-routing through cities as far-flung as Denver, the 80,000 miles United wanted us to fork over for the pleasure of an economy seat.
And, then of course, I can’t resist the road. Viki had never stopped in Portland before, and we figured we could see a little of that city on our way back. Jared convinced us a stop on the way up in Bend overnight would be worth it, and so — next thing we knew we were in the car and driving northward for a magnificent wedding on the Palouse, with great bottles of Pinot Noir and tasty Oregon dinners on either side of Spokane and environs.
